Injectafer (Ferric Carboxymaltose)

Injectafer is a prescription iron replacement medicine administered intravenously. Injectafer treats iron deficiency anemia in adults and pediatric patients 1 year of age and older. Low iron levels can occur due to many conditions, including when your body cannot get enough iron from food or when there is long-term blood loss. Injectafer should be used only if you have not responded well to treatment with oral iron, or if you are intolerant to oral iron treatment.

Indication:

  • Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA)

Infusion Duration:

  • Each dose given over at least 30 minutes.

  • All first dose medications will require a 30-minute post infusion observation period.

Frequency:

  • Given as two infusions at least 7-days apart.
